You can see when the water clears when backwashing.

You may have a lot of dirt in your filter you haven't cleared out. If the sight glass doesn't go clear when you are backwashing (aside from a minute amount if sand that always seems to settle in the bottom), you have a problem somewhere in your filter, but there are too many possibilities to lay them out without more info.
You asked a simple, straight-forward question, and BigDave gave you the precise, exact answer.

Why would you need to say that?

Re-read what you wrote that I was responding to.
Dave is one of our support team, and works hard to help people who come here, and is extremely knowledgable, and, like all of us, is a volunteer. You implied he didn't know what he was talking about, when he does, when, rather than saying "So why doesn't the sight glass go clear?" you instead said "Anyone else?" Dave could easily have given you a half-dozen reasons why the sight glass didn't go clear.
We all do our best to help people, but, ultimately your pool is your responsibility for which we can only make suggestions.

I am sorry you feel that way.
I can delete this thread but I will let the owner make the decision.

"Anyone else?" Meant does anyone else have this problem. Your the first person I've seen on these boards to be rude.
