Hey guys,

I as in the process of pumping all the water out of my pool, so I could give the liner a good cleaning and then start this summer with fresh water.

This is an above ground pool with a 1.5HP Hayward Pump.

This issue is that the filter basket was full of leaves and I have to stop the pump, empty the basket, and now I cannot get the air out of the line. There is about a foot and a half of water left in the pool, and I am attempting to run the hose from the skimmer to the pole vacuum attachment which I have placed on the bottom of the pool. I am laying over the edge of the pool running the hose down into the water as a normally would, but by the time I have to pull the hose up the 2+ feet to the skimmer, there is air in the hose.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Drew

You could try to siphon with a garden hose or two.

Most AG pumps are not self-priming, but are "flooded suction". Essentially this means that you have to make sure there is NO air in the suction line coming to the pump. It's possible to do this, if you have valves on the lines and can 'hold your mouth right'. But it's a serious PITA.

I'd just go to General Tool and get a $40 sump pump and use that.

Home Depot rents sump pumps as well.
