My husband and I bought a fore closer house that had an in ground pool (30,000 gallons).
It has been vacant for 2-3 years.... it's green, nasty, and you can't see to the bottom.
It WAS a salt pool, but we want to get the water cleared up first before we start the salt system (hoping that it works...)

Now, KNOW that last year we tried and tried and tried to get it clear and i just dont know what it wasn't getting clear!!! i was sooooo frustrated I just wanted to fill the darn thing in.... i worked myself to death out there.... and we just can't afford a "pool guy " to come out there to do it for us...... we are going to try one more time.... I want to be able to use this pool this summer!!!!

we have already cleaned all the debris out that we can...scooped and scooped to we can't scoop anymore....

my first question is....... it's vinyl... and has this really hard like calcium build up all around the liner...... HOW CAN I SAFELY GET THAT OFF WITHOUT DRAINING THE POOL (IF THERE IS A WAY) .... I DO NOT want to drain the pool.

Any advice is appreciated and THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!

-sincerely,
the very frustrated owner of a pool..

I'm not the expert but I think you can safely use Ascorbic acid on the scaling...and it's almost certainly due to too high calcium and Total Alkalinity levels in your water.

YOU DO NOT NEED CALCIUM IN A VINYL POOL! So don't add any.
