Hi! My name is Dan and this year I upgraded from my Intex Pool to a 18' AGP. I am so excited to get back into it all! Thanks for this great Forum!!

Hi Dan! Welcome - and Good Luck!.
I also moved up from a Intex donut to a steel-wall AGP a couple years ago - pretty happy so far but also miss the convenience that a really small pool affords - dumping the whole pool every year and whenever it gave me trouble.

Yeah. I can see that happening. The pool store already has me spooked with a bunch of things they want to add to the water... that's why I love this forum! Just hope I can do SEARCH soon so I don't ask questions that are already addressed elsewhere.

Better to use the Google search in mine or Ben's blue signature boxes rather than the forum software search feature. It will search all of the forum and our sister website poolsolutions.com.
Welcome!

Were excited too! The rain yesterday actually warmed the pool to 70! I had to drain about 8 inches. When I got home yesterday it was overflowing!! Hope to take our first margarita float this weekend, solar heaters will run full force tomorrow!!

I was one of the first to "graduate" from an Intex Donut to a full-sized AG pool, and I have NO regrets. The Intex served us well for 3 years and the FantaSea is going into its 12 season this year. There is NO difference in how you care for the water other than size and scale. And, my sand filter is easier to use and maintain than the old Intex cartridge filters.
Don't be spooked! Test your fill water to get an idea what's in it. Then just add chlorine and stabilizer as it fills, and test normally. There really is no magic "start up" when filling with new water.
