Is it OK for me to totally ditch the 3" tabs in the chlorinator, or do they have their place in maintaining chlorine levels without having to add chlorine every day? My CYA is at 95.

You don't have to use them. Many of us, me included, only use bleach for our source of chlorine. With a CYA of 95, you need to ditch the tabs.
