Could someone recommend a good quality liner for my 16 X 32 doughboy AGP ? If their is a source where the WEBSITE gets a credit for my purchase that would be even better. Thanks

Do you intend to install it yourself? (Not sure if Ben is connected to any parts-supplier houses).

I am going to install the new liner my self with the help of a few friends as free labor. My Doughboy folds over the top of the wall edge and has a approx. 4 foot plastic clip that slides down over it to make the wall connection. I have watched a half dozen or so videos on YouTube that show liner replacements and am comfortable doing it. Also I have noticed liner thickness from 20 gage to 30 gage with 30 being the most expensive and I assume the thickest. Which do you recommend? This is a bit confusing because I am familiar with using sheet metal that is measured by a gauge system. In metal the lower the number the thicker the sheet. It seems the pool or vinyl industry are using just the opposite to rate the thickness of their products!

Liners are measured in mils. The more mils, the thicker the liner. It's not like wire or metal sizes, which are backwards, anyway. 30 mils is thicker than 20. Thicker is usually better. You have what is called an "overlap liner". Not bad, not good, just a type.

When I got a new pool a year ago, I bought a 28 mil liner.

Thanks Watermom, I was actually hoping you would join in on this thread. I tried to find a way to send you a PM thru the website to see if you could share where you purchased your new liner last year. If you cant share that info in this forum maybe you could send me a PM with the info. I will also use the Amazon link here and see what they have, Thanks

I actually ordered it through my local pool dealer. I didn't like any of the patterns they had for above ground pools, so I ended up ordering an inground liner. It was a little more costly but I decided that getting a pattern I liked was worth it.

The liner I had previously was one that I ordered online. I will look and see if I can find where I ordered it or at least what brand it was. If I can, I'll update this thread.

(By the way, the PM feature on the forum is not working.)

I live about 60 miles south of you. If we are going to 100 degrees in six weeks I'm packing and moving to the mountain's somewhere. We may start seeing 100 degrees as early as June 1st
some years but most summers its around of the end of June before we start hovering around the century mark. I will give you with our 80% humidity it can sure feel like that much sooner! Oh got off track WERE LOOKING FOR A GOOD PLACE TO BUY A NEW LINER !!!

Hey 95 in April is possible. Close enough for my fat gut! I just need the best place to buy a new liner. I also, would like thoughts on getting a dark colored liner, to retain heat....use it earlier in the season, longer into the night during the summer and further into fall.....

thoughts?

I really like your idea of a darker color under water and the benefits it could bring. My last liner patterns and colors bleached completely out to a very light blue over just 4 or 5 summers. I'm not sure if that is normal or not for these things. I am only 4 years into ownership of my first pool. Maybe WaterMom can shed some light on this, I would love to here her thought on your ideas. Also maybe we will get PoolDoc to join in this topic on a source and brand of good liner options that will also benefit the website !

I am also curious to if we could in my 30' round....add a large pump, to my current set up, that I can turn on when I am in the pool and want to float in a circle with water speed like I am going down a slow river?

EX.... the Comal in the hill country...

Anybody ever looked at that idea?

Coj79 that's a interesting idea. You might want to start a separate tread with something like "HOMEMADE LAZY RIVER" in the topic . It will most likely get overlooked in this thread on a different subject!

Sorry, Heavyhook, for adding to the thread highjack.

How about removing the eyeball and threading in a 90 degree 1-1/2" NPT x 3/4" hose barb?

I'm not sure how much extra heat would be retained by having a dark liner. Personally, I think a lighter blue seems more refreshing visually.

Regarding your liner bleaching out so much --- what were you using to chlorinate with and how were you adding it?
