I have just acquired a 16'x32' above ground pool. We just disassembled and found that the steel straps on the bottom were rusted and broken. Where can i get replacements for these? I was wondering if I could just use treated lumber for ground contact, nylon strapping, or steel cable in place of these.
What do you think?

We regularly get posts about problems with above-ground pools that people have purchased and moved -- I'm not sure we've ever been able to help.

1. Many A-G pool parts are brand specific . . . and nobody but a local pool installer is likely to recognize which brand you have . . . or know where to get those parts, if the company is still in business.

2. There are work arounds, but that tends to be a hands-on type solution, and not one we can provide over the internet.

3. It's usually not an option to hire professional help -- during the summer they are too busy or uninterested in risky troublesome work like this, and during winter, the pool owners aren't interested.

So . . . our general recommendation is that you should never purchase, or even accept a free, used A-G pool unless you ALREADY know where to get parts, and are ALREADY sure you can work around any problems.

Unfortunately, that's no help to you. If you can take pictures and post them online with Webshots, Flickr, or Google Drive, you might post your questions AND the link to the photos on poolspaforum.com -- there are a LOT more pool industry types that hang out on that forum. One of them might know something and be willing to tell you.

Good luck!
