I installed the subject pool with the 2650gph sand filter/saltwater generator pump combo upgrade this summer and quickly discovered some things I'd not anticipated. Intex design does make it very easy to assemble the pool/filter/chlorinator system; consistent, secure plumbing, etc.. I was very meticulous in preparing the site to ensure level. Even at that, I was 1/2" low on one side.

I quickly discovered I needed a skimmer to filter floating debris. I ordered the Intex over-the-wall skimmer (~ $35), which provided the skimmer, bracket, hose, & adapter for the pump suction through the wall.

I then discovered that I could not connect a conventional 1 1/2" vacuum hose to the filtering system. I'll write more later about overcoming that obstacle.

I, initially, had trouble getting the chlorine level where it should be. After a couple attempts, I found a local pool supply shop where the guy was very helpful. He said the saltwater chlorine generator was not designed to bring chlorine up to the optimum level; only maintain it. His advice:
1. Get the water PH level correct. (I added acid, gradually & ran the pump 24hrs.)
2. Shock the pool with 1/2 bag of standard chlorine granules. (I gradually dissolved the powder in a bucket & poured it into the pump discharge stream.)
3. In 90 - 100 degree heat, run the pump a lot; keep the water circulating.

Within 48hrs., the Ph & chlorine levels were where they needed to be & have been for more than a month now. The Intex saltwater chlorine generator seems to maintain the level w/ about 5 - 6 hrs. a day operation.

Finally, I've discovered that even with a level base, and ground cloth, I'm seeing one portion of the sidewall sink lower, due to splashout. I'm not sure how to resolve that issue w/o dumping the water & re-leveling, so maybe wait until next spring.
