Hello,

I need some help please!

I have had my pool set up around 5 weeks now, this is my first pool and I stupidly never read up about the chemicals. I never did an initial set up!
I have been using 1" HTH chlorinating tablets and just 1 in a floater till it has gone. Also I have been using around 1 tblsp of HTH shock, once week.
Since then in the last 2 weeks I have started to get Algae i have brushed the pool with a normal brush and need to buy a pool brush tomo, my green cloudy water problem seems to be staying, it may go for a day but comes back quick.

Have i done the wrong thing using a normal brush ie: contaminated the water?

Also please can someone tell me the correct amount of chlorinating tablets i should be using, and the right amount of shock!

Also is the algae guard ok to use?
and should i put household bleach in to correct it?
Do i need to dump the water and start again??

Please help

With a 10' pool, probably the easiest and cheapest fix is to simply start over, with the "Super Simple" recipe:

When I use the float dispenser in my pool I have been putting in 3 of the 1" HTH tablets and that has held the chlorine level at 5PPM but you have to test everyday and add tablets as determined by your test results.
