I've finished removing the sawd and leveling the ground. Do I need to rent a vibrating plate to tamp down the dirt before laying the sand down and compacting the sand once layed down?

What are you building?

Sorry,
15 x 24 AG. I've removed the sawd and level the ground. I'm building that in Montreal, Canada.

Did you build up any of the soil, or did you just dig down to level? If you just dug down to the lowest spot, you should be fine as is. If you added soil to a low spot, you may have issues depending on your soil and where it is on the pool.

No build up just removal. Is it best to do it anyway?

I've never seen anybody compact undisturbed soil or sand for an AG pool. Local soil conditions might make a difference, but it's not done around here.

What should I use then? Just a sawd roller? Or just smooth with hand trowel after wetting the sand?

Your existing undisturbed ground most likely doesnt need the compactor run over it but I would want to compact the sand personally & and my prefrence would be the vibrating plate compactor.

I just got through this morning using a vibrating compactor. I found wetting the sand really helped. I mean wetting it a lot. I had my kid run the water hose in front of the compactor and it helped a lot. Still was dry in some places underneath. What is sawd ? Is that what you call "sod" up north?
