Full refill ballpark chemical amounts

I just replaced the liner in my 18' AG that is about 7000 gallons, which I am filling now. I am ordering the Taylor K-2006, but would like to get started with a close approximation of chlorine and CYA amounts until it arrives.

Is there a way to calculate how much of each to add to get started before I actually start testing?

Do I stabilize first, or chlorinate, or can I do them at the same time?

Is there a particular method for stabilizing? I used to just make a slurry and pour it in the skimmer, but I want to get started right. I used to notice that some of the stabilizer would remain un-dissolved on the bottom for a while.

You can do both.

To add stabilizer (CYA), you can either put it in an old sock and hang it in front of a return jet and give it a squeeze once in awhile to help it dissolve faster or pour it slowly into the skimmer and let it dissolve in the filter. (That is what I do.) If you do put it into the skimmer, keep your pump running 24/7 for the next 4 or 5 days. Don't rerun the CYA test for a week after you add it so you will make sure it is dissolved. Don't want to waste your testing reagents.

You might want to look at the SS recipe (http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthread.php?17055) for small pools; trying to hit exact doses does not work as well for most people as the 'add some, test, & add some more' approach.
