Hi. Filled my Intex ag pool yesterday and into last night with my well water. The water is GREEN. Followed your instructions for bucket test before filling pool and had no problem so proceeded with your instructions. This morning I added 1 dose Zipchlor and Borax.

HTH 6 way test kit says....
Chlorine 5 hardness 200 ph 7.8 alk- 200 CA-0
Paper test strip says
chlorine 10/20, ph 7.5 alk 180

What do I do now? :)

Green and slime-y? or Green and clear, with no slime?

Feel the sidewalls of your pool. If you feel the slightest bit of slime-iness, add chlorine.

Otherwise:
1. Filter 24/7
2. Keep adequate but low chlorine levels
3. Gradually lower the pH to 7.0 - 7.2

It may be iron that has been chelated (made persistently soluble) by bacteria. If so, it will *gradually* become insoluble and orange. But if you are running your filter, it should mostly end up there, rather than in the pool.

Polyquat will help with EITHER bacterially chelated iron -- as a clarifier and filter aid -- OR algae -- as an algaecide. See www.poolsolutions.com/polyquat.html
