I have a Hayward DE6000 filter and its top just cracked open. My pool got emtptied almost a quarter of it. There is record temperature in Phoenix and probably that might be a factor in it. My filter pressure usually was between 28 - 35 psi. Just saw water shooting through the crack on the filter top. I dont have a warranty on it since we got it when we bought the home.

Any idea if I could just replace the top or do I need to replace the entire filter? I saw that it runs to $800+

I cannot answer your question but I'm just wondering about your normal operating pressure being 28-35psi. That seems awfully high to me. I hope whoever answers your question about replacing top vs. replacing entire filter will comment on that pressure as well.

Watermom, Can you give me some ideas why the pressure might be too high? Could it be that my pump is oversize? I do have pop up cleaning system, can that cause the pressure to be higher? Thanks!

Honestly, I am not the pump person around here. I wish I could help you with this but you are better off waiting for someone who has more knowledge in this area. I also do not know about how pop up cleaning systems would affect a pump's operation. Sorry.
