Hello all again...well with your help I finally got the pool up and it looks great!
Thanks AGAIN!!
Anyway I am going to start on the deck next, was wondering if anyone had or knows where I could get plans to putting up a deck, I have build decks before but never around a pool, I downloaded one from deckplans.com but its not really what I wanted, I wanted top rails and the size was to small, I am looking at something around 24' wide and 12' deep...anyway any help in the right direction would be appreciated!! Thanks Again!

Hi, I don't have plans but do have some photos of a few that I have built.

They might give you some ideas.

Best of luck, Dennis

Thanks Dennis, those should give me some ideas, do you think its best to build so the deck overlaps the toprail of just level with it ?

you can get free plans here for any size round.
http://www.deckplans.com/
They also give you custom material lists etc.
I would NOT overlap the top UNLESS you NEVER get frost.
Same goes for going UNDER the rail.

We built our deck so that the deck comes right underneath the lip of the edge of the pool. It is 20' by 12' with a seperate, raised, pergola covered 10'x10' deck attached. I love our pool deck!! I have pics if you want to see them!

We are getting ready to put a deck around our 24ft AG pool as well. We are not sure wether to bring the wood over the rails, up to the rails or under?? I know we need room for the cover in the fall. Anyone have thoughts on that? GCpint, that sounds like a nice size deck!

Nice deck hrsdennis, I put one up 2 years ago and it looks very similar.
As for over, under, or flush with rails, I built mine over the rails but left about 2 inches clearance between. I have a stainless ladder that bolts to the deck. It has worked great for me in PA.
However it is a real pain trying to cover the pool at the end of the season.
Imho it's a matter of preferance but do consider what you will have to go through later to cover and uncover the pool.
Hope this helps.

Lowes has a pretty decent deck designer software.

I used the plan from deckplans.com to go 2/3 around the pool and went about 3/4" under the top raIls. I would think if you have frost heave, the pool wall and deck should move the same, but if not, I dont think the deck would rise more than 1/2" or so. Im glad I went under the rail because now I must remove the top rails to do a repair. Also, I would only use the deck blocks if you have difficult soil to dig in or are not getting a permit. You can get away with a lot less blocks with beams.

Good Luck
