So we came home to a nice clean pool. Vac and filled it with more water changed filters and put tablets in with the filter. The things to include is i clean the filters in a oxie clean/ bleach, water mix i rinsed the filter out before putting it in. My hubby was in the pool with his jean shorts on and we put new floats for the kids. We let the kids in and not even 10 min later green water. Hubby threw pool shock and swim in but i dont think it needed it. So what did we do wrong. Ive done the filter cleaning method all summer and its never turned it before.
Its a small pool 10ft by 2 and a half deep.

Ok the green is starting to look better. The chlorine, Ph and Alkalinity are high. I know with time Chlorine will come down but not sure about the other 2. I think it was metals in the water. But not 100 percent sure. But on the bottom of the pool this am there was brown stuff that my vac could not suck up as it waas to fine so i will clean the filter a bunch of times today and keep the water stirred.

Probably iron. Do you fill from a well? Post current water testing readings and tell us what kind of kit you used to get them.

Its from a rural water supply. I test daily using the 6 way strips from walmart. I just used 1 its 200 for Total Hardness, Free chlorine/ Bromine 10/20, ph 8.4, Total Alkalinity 10 and cyanuric acid is 150. Ive always had a higher and Alkalinity but this is the first time it went green. Ive stirred it once since this morning as it had all settled.
