Chlorinators are for keeping a residual.

Have you emptied all your skimmer and pump baskets of organic waste? Have you tested your water to see what your CC reading is?

It may simply be time to shock.

If you know your CYA level, add enough bleach to bring your pool to the shock level for that CYA. if you don't know it, measure your CYA and then shock with bleach.

If you cannot measure your CYA for some reason (no test, no nearby pool store) raise your chlorine level to 15ppm and keep it there for at least 24 hours, but no higher. Meanwhile get your CYA checked. If it's 60-90ppm, raise your chlorine level to 20. If it's 100 or more, raise chlorine to 25.
