Just trying to get a good cleaning and maintenance plan set up for my new pool. I am a first time pool owner so I am still a bit lost and confused when it comes to the chemicals and everything, but I am slowly getting familiar with it by reading the posts on the forum. Of course, my little guy couldn't wait to start playing so I filled the pool yesterday before looking into the maintenance information. I plan to purchase the 6 way test kit, bleach, and borax and start following the easy maintenance plan today. Just wondering if I will be okay doing so or if I need to alter the plan or start over since I filled the pool already like an overexcited first time pool owner with an overexcited 4 year old haha.

You will be ok by adding some bleach for now but it will be a good idea to do the 'recipe' for starting up small pools. (I think from reading your post that you have already found it.) Don't let a freshly filled pool sit unchlorinated for long. It is amazing at how quickly it can turn green!
Also, do yourself a favor and go ahead and order a good test kit (Taylor K-2006 or 2006C) from my signature below. You won't regret it and it will make it easier to take care of your pool. In the meantime, pick up a cheap OTO/Phenol Red kit (red and yellow drops).
Keep reading posts of the forum, especially the stickies at the top of each sub-section. (Until your registration is completed, you'll have to log out first to be able to see the rest of the forum, though.) Also, read on our sister website www.poolsolutions.com.
