I'm not sure if people are pulling my leg, but some people I know claim they open their pool in late spring and uncover a glorious clean pool.
I've never had the joy of that in 14 years of operation.
I use a mesh safety cover, pool gets closed clean and dosed in late Sept. then open around Memorial Day. I thought of trudging out in the snow and cold a few times during the winter and pouring in some more liquid chlor, but since there is no pump going, not sure if that would help.
I live in NJ. Does anyone have any tips to avoid the season opener of massive carpets of dead stuff on the bottom?
