We are about 3 years away from getting a inground pool. We decided to get a small 12x30 intex pool so I can start trying to learn the chemistry of owning a pool. Already tested water with cheaper tester and know I have to get ph way down. Also alkalinity is over 325

My. Advice: buy a Taylor K-2006 now and learn to use it. Learn the pool care method described here and on poolsolutions.com and you'll have no trouble with your "Heavy Duty" pool.

1. Do not worry about the alkalinity.
2. Do not worry about calcium
3. Do get the pH into the range between 7.2 and 7.8 ASAP.
4. Do get the K2006.
5. Do make sure you add some chlorine daily (1/4 gallon of 6% household bleach each evening) till you have another plan.
