Hi there pool forum :)

Anyone here have an intex type pool (soft sides with frame) and successfully used a pool heater. Our swimming season here is pretty short which is why we have decided intex pool instead of the work/cost of inground pool but even so I think a heater would be a good idea :)

Like you, I have an Intex pool.

As a season extender, I built my own wood fired heater. Not all that efficient, but it does work.

One caveat with mine, though, is that I have to keep a very close eye on my pH. If I let it get too far from 7.2 - 7.6, I could easily introduce copper from the pipes into my pool water.

If you have the means to purchase a heater and pay for the fuel for it, yes you can heat your Intex pool.

thank you! we have found a used gas heater about 2 hrs away on kijiji for $300. Thinking that might be the way to go :)

We have ng plumbed to our deck, but that deck is raised quite abit so will have to have pipe fitter come and extend it somehow.. man no matter which way you go, having a pool is gonna cost big $$ LOL

True enough for buying, installing etc. However, if you follow the advise from the experts here, maintenance of your pool can really be close to pennies per day....OOPS, I forgot, Canada got rid of their pennies....

Enjoy your pool!

Do read the stickies here (http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/forumdisplay.php?175-Pool-Chemistry-for-Intex-type-Pools) before filling your pool.

Consider also finding a source for a FAS-DPD test kit for testing your water. Yes it will probably seem like a costly item, however you will save that much and more by avoiding costly problems with the chemistry of your pool. There are several threads here about test kits, look them up and read through them.

Concerning the test kits: I am curious if the components of these good kits are also included in the problems with importing the kits. Could a person not order the full kit, just the individual parts of it and get by with this? or would that also cause problems?
