Sand Filter

DH and I just changed out the sand in our sand filter. We clamped everything up tight, or so we thought. Water is escaping in two clamp areas. Are we just not getting everything tight enough or could there be some other problem. Water comes streaming out the air release valve at some point, so I closed it according to directions but my pressure is around 0 so something isn't right. HELP.
