I am trying to strengthen my bleach. The stuff I get says 3% sodium hypochlorite. I have some shock that says it is 60% chlorine and is in a 10 oz. powder forum. One bag is supposed to clean 12k gallons. I don't want to use that, but I want to put it in water and use it as a bleach. I don't know if it will work of even how much the 60% stuff would take. But if my bleach is only 3% or even the good stuff is 8%, if I were to take 1/4 of the bag which is 2.5 oz. and put it in a gallon of water, what would I have? I really don't know. Thanks for getting back Watermom, I'm sure you could easily figure it out. Really thank you no matter how this turns out Thanks Dave

I think you are asking how much bleach is equivalent in Free Chlorine (FC) amount to 10 ounces of 67% Trichlor, correct? The answer is 95 fluid ounces of 6% bleach or 69 fluid ounces of 8.25% bleach. The newer Clorox bleach is now 8.25% while the older one and some off-brands are still at 6%. Instead of figuring how much bleach is like a certain amount of Trichlor, you should instead use a test kit to figure out your current FC level and then based on the FC that you want, use The Pool Calculator (http://www.thepoolcalculator.com) to calculate dosing based on your pool water volume.
