Trying to get some "how to's" hashed out and learn along the way till I build.....I mean when the wife let's me dig a big hole in the yard.

Anywho, I saw where a block pull is built and a liner track is installed below the water line with tile installed at the water line. Question is, can the track be installed watertite with construction adhesive and/or silicone? And if any water gets by the track and below the liner will it just drain out to the ground through a vermiculite bottom? The water table is well below the pool bottom at my location.

Another question. Where can I read up on plumbing? I can size lines and pumps, but for a certain pool size/shape, I want to learn where to locate skimmers, drains, returns, etc.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi, Mike, and welcome to the Pool Forum! I'm sorry I can't help you with these questions, but just wanted to pop in and say hi and let you know that you weren't being ignored! There may be someone here who can help with some of your questions, but I have to tell you, pool building is not the main focus of our forum; water chemistry is. Having said that, we will keep our fingers crossed that someone can offer you some advice. PoolDoc may be able to answer some of your questions since he is also a master plumber.

Block pools were fairly common 25 years ago, but I've never seen any online how-to. Doesn't mean there isn't one, but I haven't seen it.
