My total alkalinity is at 150. How do I lower that? I emptied (mostly) my pool this past winter and refilled it after doing a little inspection.
My CYA couldn't be measured because it was lower than 30.
My TC is basically 0, which makes sense with the CYA being so low.
I have 2 gallons of bleach-8.25% to put into it tonight and I'll be purchasing some stabilizer, and more bleach, tomorrow. Luckily the water is still clear.

I forgot to mention that my pH is 8.2, so adding muriatic acid should help with TA, right? Never mind, I should have read your previous answer first. Thanks for the info!

Your pH is probably 8.2 or HIGHER, not 8.2 . . . unless you are using a pH meter.
Yes, lowering the pH will lower the alkalinity.

Is your pool vinyl? If so, higher alkalinity is not a problem unless your pH is continuously rising.

No it's gunite. I finally got some trichlor tabs and stabilizer to get this pool under control. Now I'm watching the chlorine and pH. I really appreciate all of the info from y'all. It's very motivating.
