Hi, I've read this forum off and on over the years, getting great advice. My pool has a leak near the skimmer basket so once the dry season came, I turned the pool off so I didnt have to add water. Its rarely ever used anymore anyway so it didnt really matter to me. I was good at adding clorine to keep it clear but about 3 weeks ago, it got away from me and is now a swamp, literally. Its about a foot lower than the skimmer and there is actual fuzzy stuff growing on the walls. I am leary about trying to clean the water since it has never been this bad and wondering if I should just empty it and refill. However, I have read that it can pop out of the ground or crack, so I am scared to do so without advice first. I had it resurfaced back around 2000 and I could have sworn they had to drain it then, so I am confused. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

membership updated.

Liner pools cannot be drained, without using methods that usually only pool pros can apply. Concrete pools cannot be drained if the surrounding ground is really wet OR if the water table is high. Fiberglass pools -- very light, will float easily -- can't be safely drained if the ground is damp. ;)

Thanks for your reply Ben, and updating my membership. I really appreciate it. I found your site about 7 yrs ago or so and I loved the info here. So simple and perfect. Outside of clorox or refilling the pool store jugs, I havent had to buy wasteful/improper pool chemicals since. It was my own fault the water got away from me this time, but it will be clear again in no time. Thanks again
