I'm wanting to put together an Intex pool for the summer. I've got a 5-year old so I don't want one of the biggies but I'd like to buy the filtration system sufficient to handle an upgrade to a more substantial pool in a year or two (From previous experience I know the supplied pumps with these pools are wholly inadequate). So my thought was to get the :

Intex 56673EG Sand Filter Pump (1600 GPH)
Intex 54601EG Krystal Clear Saltwater System (which includes the adapters to a smaller Intex pool apparently)
Intex 12x36 Easy Set Pool

Does this approach make sense?
What other accessories should I buy at the outset to be ready to go

Sounds reasonable. I'd try to find that SWCG without the copper ionizer or disable it. Copper stains pools fingernails and light and colored hair green and is not needed to keep a clean pool.
Please read the stickies in the Pool Chemistry for Intex-type Pools (http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/forumdisplay.php?175-Pool-Chemistry-for-Intex-type-Pools) forum. Follow the Super simple recipe until you've added about a pound and a half of dichlor. You should be able to use the SWCG (after adding the necessary salt).
Be sure to build the pool on level ground - not just looks level - measured level. I had to dump my first 12' donut because one side was 4" higher but I swore it was completely flat.
