Hello all! I am a new subscriber here.

Does anyone here have experience with the Hayward Ecostar pump? I installed 2 of them at my home 20 months ago and have had good service and much lower energy costs...unitil now. The solid state motor control on one pump shorted out. It is out of warranty and the new electronics board costs more than a new complete pump! I have tried to call Hayward this morning but the pump tech phone line does not answer.

I would appreciate any comments, advice, etc.
Thanks in advance,
Waverly

That is very unfortunate.

Is the pump on a surge/lighting protection circuit? That seems to be the most common cause of failure. The electronics seem to be very sensitive to line spikes.

The Intelliflo is no different.

There is no surge protection on the pump circuit...where we are we have never had a problem with any of our electronics in the past that might indicate a voltage control problem. The sister pump that runs along side the failed one still works fine. If the Ecostar is susceptible to voltage spikes, then Hayward may need to consider building in surge protection in future units.

Have you searched Amazon and Ebay for the board to see if it's less expensive ?? Can you share the pumps numbers and or the control boards part number ??
