View Full Version : Am I on the right track...

Last night, these were my numbers:
FC: 7.5
CC: 1.0
pH: <7.0 (drop test kit doesn't test below 7.0)
TA: 50
CYA: 50

This morning:
FC: 9.0 (not sure what caused this. We have a few tri-chlor tabs in the basket, but they've been there for a week or so now...should I take them out for a few days to get a more accurate reading?)
CC: 1.0
pH: <7.0
(didn't retest TA or CYA)

My water, for the most part is pretty clear. Just vacuuming up the residual dead stuff from opening. Just a very, very slight cloudiness, but I think that is because of the dead stuff yet. So, my plan is to raise the pH up a little (not sure what the ideal is, but at least to 7.0 I assume). I'm not sure what CC is, but from what I have read it should be less than .5, correct? So, should I give it a good shock anyway? And what are the suggestions for CYA and TA...seems they are on the low end of "recommended", but is that ok, or should I aim to raise them a little.

I am amazed at how quickly the pool turned around from opening. We didn't cover this year, so there was quite a bit of debris in it and by the time we were able to open it, it looked like a swamp. Within a DAY of shocking it was so much better...milky, cloudy. But now it is mostly clear...so, so close to crystal...Now we just need some sunshine to warm that water up!

Thanks for you help.
