Well my AG swcg arrived today http://www.autopilot.com/our-products/product/107-Pool-Pilot-AG-with-Floater.

I couldnt find much in the way of reviews ect so I bit the bullet and pulled the trigger for $499. I checked my water today a came away with the following numbers.
1.8 FC
.08 CC
7.4 PH
70 TA
45 CA

I figured the Chlorine would be low as we had some stormy days where I left the pump off and did not do much with the pool for about a week. So I am in the process of getting that back up before I make the switch.

My SWCG is a convection unit that will work without the pump running. Right now there will be no splash out for several weeks maybe more than a month.

How much salt do I need to start with?

Just plain old water conditioner salt is OK?? Kinda like bleach I am assuming that the bells and wistles for "Pool Salt" or anything else is either not necessary or may create other issues?

Frequency of testing at start and once it stabilizes?

I plan to take my water to be tested at the pool store before I make the switch. Or should I wait until after I think I have a stable water balance after the switch?

Thanks in advance
Bryan

The only switch you need to make is to salinate your water. You need a CYA level.

Is .08 CC a typo? I don't believe the recommended K-2006 kit reads more granularity than 0.2ppm.
