Hello Everyone! I see Clorox has changed their formula to a concentrated version. Will this work the same as the original formula?

Thanks

Yes, just scale down the amount needed since it's now 8.25% concentration instead of 6%.

Ok...so, the simple rule of thumb is....
1 gallon of 8.25% will add 8.25ppm of FC to 10,000 gallons, or 4.125ppm of FC to 20,000 gallons or 16.5ppm of FC to 5,000 gallons.

Perfect timing. I just bought some to prepare for opening next week and was wondering about that.

Thanks. :)

Lol....that was a blast from the past.

I have been struggling with this today myself. The higher concentration of chlorine isn't the problem for me, it is the size of the bottle - they are 3.78 quarts or 121 ounces. Close to a gallon but not...

OK, the actual formula is:
(1,000,000/pool volume) * concentration * amount = FC added.
Volume is in gallons
Concentration is as a decimal, so it's .0825
Amount is in gallons as well so 121 ounces is .945 gallons.
So your calculation is: (1,000,000/17,200) * .0825 * .945 = 4.533, or 4.5 is the FC added to your pool from 121 ounces of 8.25%

The rule of thumb makes this easier but this is the formula it comes from. BTW, FYI: as long as your units in pool volume and amount are the same (gallons vs gallons, liters vs liters, ounces vs ounces (!) ) the formula works.
