Hi,

I'm actually posting a question for a friend (but I happen to be a new pool owner too) that has an inground plastered pool with a crack that runs from the bottom of the pool in the shallow end up the side to the top of the pool. He is losing about an inch of water a day. He hired a leak detection company to verify the source of the leak. The inspector recommended resurfacing with fiberglass instead of plaster since fiberglass is a flexible material. If it were to crack again, the section could be repaired unlike plaster. Any thoughts on other options or feedback on converting to fiberglass surface. Thanks!

I've never seen a fiberglass resurface job that went well. I think it *can* be done, but it's very, very skill dependent work, and unless you get a highly skilled AND conscientious installer, I doubt you'll be pleased with the results, after the first year or so.
