spa has a grity surface

hello My spa surface was smooth for along time, But now it has a gritty surface now, was told it was calcium build up... what do I do to get rid of this problem.??

Is this a stand alone acrylic spa or a spa attached to a pool and, if so, is it plaster, fiberglass, or an acrylic shell?

My spa is fiberglass or acrylic and what I found out is it's the minerals in the hard water I use to fill it. I have a well and I don't have a softener. If that's similar to your situation I have found there are one time filters available that you can put on the end of the hose and they will pull out the minerals when you are filling and eliminate the "sandpaper" fell you get in spots inside the spa.
