Gave the pool a good vacuum today. Levels are: FC 3.5 CC 0 PH 7.8 ALK 80 CYA 50 According to the pool calculator I'm going to add 3.5 gallons of 6% bleach to shock to 16ppm. I have about 3/4 of a bottle of the polyqueat algaecide so am going to put it in for good measure. How long do I need to wait before covering for the winter? Or do I have to wait at all? It is supposed to start raining here in TN tomorrow and I really don't want to have to get a bunch of leaves out of it again and have to vacuum again.

When you add the Polyquat, you'll want to have your filter on recirculate instead of filter or else you'll just filter it all out. Also, the Polyquat will drop the chlorine level, so a day or two later, you'll need to add more chlorine to bring it back up. You don't want to cover a pool at shock level as the fumes can damage the cover. Give it a couple of day or two after shocking before putting the cover on for the winter.
