By 'this day' I mean the day I finally give up on attempting to keep the pool warm enough to swim and accept the fact that my swim season is over. I've kept my solar panels running and my solar cover on to try and hang on to every last bit of heat I can to prolong my swim time, but the nights are getting cool very early this year. So, it was time to bite the dust and accept that there will be no more lazy days of floating around in my pool until spring. We removed the solar cover this afternoon before the water gets too cold and we would need to have defibrillator on hand to do so!:eek:

Sigh. .......... How many more days til spring?? :(

I had to give up on ours last week, as well. Ran out of wood to keep the fire burning. I'll be putting together a good stock of wood, newspaper, and other assorted burnables for an early opening in the spring. Another overwinter project is amassing enough black tubing to make several solar coils, and have them ready for pool fill day.

What's left of the water in ours, has cooled to below 60*. Not going to put any major part of my body in THAT!!

All I have left to do is scrub and dry the liner, then store it.

All in all, I agree with you Watermom! My pool may be just a shadow of yours, but it sure does feel good to float around in it, especially on a cool late summer evening.

Is it spring yet?

We're just about done, too. My oldest is having a "slumber" party this weekend, and they may attempt to get in, but otherwise it's just gotten too cold. When I checked yesterday, water temp was down to 76--too cold for me.

I feel your pain, share it too. I put away the solar cover last weekend and set the solar panels to run at night. Water temp was 74 when I made the call Saturday and 64 yesterday. Now, with no chance of swimming, It's a real chore to get out there everyday to clear the leaves out of the skimmer and test the water. sigh.

Pulled the steps out of our pool last week. Such a sad day. Not draining this year though. Going to shock, put in polyquat and cover. Hopefully it will be as clear in the spring as it was this year. Thanks so much to every one who advised us on the yellow mustard algae this past spring. After we followed your advise and got rid of it our pool was crystal clear all summer. We will never again use pool store fixes for any problems we may have. Will be counting the days until spring!!

Why would we hate you? It's your choice to live where the weather can be described the way Adrian Cronauer did in that movie.....

Some of us prefer to live where there are actual seasons. Unfortunately it also means no year round swimming for us.

Yeah I would like to see fall in person someday. I usually go on vacation in the summer or winter.
