We were hoping that an 18x36 deep end pool was big enough to safely have a slide and a diving board. Yet the pool professional who spoke with us said the entry envelopes will overlap. We live in Illinois. I just couldn't believe that we didn't have enough room. We were going to do a flat 42" shallow area for about 14 feet and then the remaining 22 feet was going to be the slope/diving depth. It seems silly to do a diving depth pool if we can't fit a diving board! I swear I have seen pictures of pools with both. How can it be done?

My pool is 18 x 36, and I have both slide and diving board. The slide is situated on the side of the pool so that the entry is just over the bottom of the slope, and the diving board is on the end. The entry envelopes do overlap a bit, but we're just very careful that the slide and diving board are not being used at the exact same time. We've never had a problem.
