Guys and Gals. The CYA in my pool was testing at around 120-150 (the taylor test kit only goes to 100). I did not want to be putting in vast amounts of chlorine, so today I made the decision and drained the level of the pool 2 feet. I'm replacing the water now. Hurricane Issac dumped a bunch of stuff in our pool, so I figured now was a good time. I'm expecting the CYA to still be around 80 when I'm done filling.
I know I have to turn off the Tri-Chlor feeder, since that is why the CYA is getting so high. I also intend to get the Chlorine levels where they need to be by using bleach.
So here is my question: I don't have time to be checking the pool chemistry every day, more like once a week. Should I spend the money and install a SWG, or would a weekly dose of bleach w/ the Trichlor feeder on low keep things good without letting the CYA get to such a silly level again?
