Hello :)
I have been actively lurking the forum all summer. We purchased and put up a 12x24 ft above ground pool about 6 weeks ago. Our nights are getting colder and we are looking to extend our pool season :) I found a used heater for sale for a great price but can not figure out if it would be acceptable to use with our new pool. It is a Hayward H-150. Thanks a bunch!

According to the product manual it will do the job, but I don't think I would do it. I've got a H250 that I use for my attached SPA. It takes about an hour to bring the temp up 15 degrees Fahrenheit. I did try to heat the whole pool once and after several hours it brought the temp up 1 degree. The H250 burns about 2gal (7.5 liters) of propane an hour, and propane is very expensive here ($5 usd/gal). I'm sure it would use less once it was at the desired temp, but check your local propane prices before you make a decision. Perhaps someone else can share their opinion here.
Do you have a solar cover for the pool already? That's probably the best way to extend the season. You'll want one of these regardless of your decision on the heater.
H150 product manual: https://www.hayward-pool.com/pdf/manuals/Manual285.pdf
Information on how solar covers work: http://www.energysavers.gov/your_home/water_heating/index.cfm/mytopic=13140 (sorry, it's a US site but I think most of the info is still relevant)
One final note, these heaters use regular copper heat exchangers. That means you probably should not put a SWCG on the pool with this heater, as the salt would eventually corrode the heat exchanger leading to premature failure. This may not be a consideration for you, but I though I'd make you aware before you decided.
