Are there floater tabs that do NOT raise CYA? I really don't want my CYA much higher than 60 ppm and it keeps creeping up higher than that.

And does it take a long time for CYA levels to decrease?

No, there aren't. Chlorine products in solid form either contain CYA (trichlor tabs, dichlor granules) or calcium (cal-hypo granules). The only chlorine product that doesn't contain CYA is bleach.

CYA levels decrease as a result of dilution. When you have a lot of splashout and refill frequently you're diluting the CYA a little. When you backwash and rinse your sand filter and then top off the water level you also dilute the CYA some.

At a CYA of 60 I would go with bleach and not use the floater tabs or the dichlor shock and go with regular household bleach.
