OK - long story here - please bear with me as I truly am a "newbie" and need lots of help!:o New salt water AG pool put in 1 month ago. Problem with pool place, apparently we are FIRST saltwater customers and he really doesn't have a clue! Anyway, had me add stableizer to the skimmer and broadcast some balancer. Now, 2 days later, my skimmer is not skimming  and my jet going into the pool has week output. I think:rolleyes: that something is clogged, perhaps with hardened stableizer, but not sure. the pressure went up from the initial 12psi to 18psi - so not too much there. I turned off then pump and took off the lid to the filter(the one that is in the pump, that you clean after you vacuum) to check it. It was clean, but water started gushing  from the inside of the pump. I thought that it was coming from the skimmer but checked and the plug was firmly in place. What is the deal? Or, better, HOW DO I FIX IT???? HELP!

Hi, Nikle,
Well, your issue appears unrelated to the SWG. It may possibly be as simple as backwashing but I wouldn't rush out and backwash immediately. Tell us just a little more about your pool. How many gallons? What type of filter? What size pump? It sounds like you have only one skimmer and one return...correct? Post those back and I think we'll have a handle on your problem....and I don't think it's too serious.
As an aside the filter is the round tank. it is attached to the pump that has the strainer basket (the lid you take off to clean). The outlet part of the filter probably has a multiport valve attached to it with various settings. That terminology will help you describe your system and issues a little more clearly. :)

ok, I have an 18,000 gal ag doughboy with a powerline pump by doughboy and an aquaview filter. Are these good pump/filter? I had no idea there were so many out there - I just got whatever they delivered. Now, this morning when I got up, without checking this message board first, I went ahead and backwashed. It was clear in the bulb at first, then very sandy and it ran a good minute or so. It stayed sandy, but got a little better. I turned it back to filter and it seems to be working correctly now. I am still worried, though, that something is going to be wrong and I may be tearing up something. Oh, by the way, THANK YOU:) for helping!
