I thought I had seen a thread about chlorine strength and using only 6% or 5.75% on the Pool Forum prior, but cannot seem to find it now. Is there any reason not to use 5.25% besides needing a little bit more than 5.75?

Thanks!

5.25% bleach is fine; we just haven't seen in in several years. What seems to be common is 6% or 3%.

Thanks for the ultra fast response. I found some at the local Marc's store. I think it is called A1 Austin's , or something like that.

Have you guys seen the new bottles of 8.2%? Clorox and the local HEB store brand have switched to the 121 oz bottles and did completely away with the 182 oz bottles of the 6.25% strength - they also went up on the price :(

Pool Chart data processed to signature; note corrected pool volume based on the dimensions you supplied.

Thanks Ben! I think I put the wrong data in the pool sig table...my deep end is 8 feet, and when I plug this all in to the pool calculator it says it's 25900. Am I miscalculating somewhere?

PS: I used the smaller 121 oz. bottles of the 8.25% bleach and it works just as beautifully as the 6.25%!

I've got your entered dimensions as a 16 x 36 rectangle, with a 3' shallow end and an 8' deep end, giving a water depth of 2.5' and 7.5'. I do see that you show a 16' width; this may be an error. Typically 36' vinyl rectangles are 18' in width.

But, if your pool IS 16 x 36, 3' - 8', then the 17K gallon figure should be close.
