Hello everyone, I just recently bought a intex 18'X48" (6400 gal) pool and i am having a really hard time trying to get the pool going(almost ready to find out what happens to the liner when shot with a shotgun LOL just kidding). I got it filled (from well water) and the water was green so we took a sample to be tested and they said the metal was at 1.0 so they said to put 1/2 gal. of miratic acid and let it sit for 12 hours and then put in one bottle of metal out and filter for 48hrs. Took a sample back and the level was at 0.5 so they said add 1/2 bottle of metal out and keep filtering and shock it that evening. I had the levels checked yesterday and they said the metal were minimal and all other levels were good. Chlorine and ph were elevated slightly. The water is still green. I had two friends tell me to try HTH green to blue so i tried that at 3pm yesterday and as of this morning the water is still GRRREEEENNNN. I am at a loss if anyone has any ideas i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advanced for any help in this extremely irritating issue. lol

Do NOT add chlorine! Do NOT swim!
Do ADD algaecide. If at all possible, get polyquat => link, but add some algaecide to prevent your pool from getting green / slimey in addition to having green iron!
Do FILTER 24/7
Do READ the ascorbic acid page: Do NOT add chlorine! Do NOT swim!

Do GET decent test kits; with metal fill water, you will ALWAYS need these. (Links below)
Do read the muriatic acid page, linked in my signature, and the LOWER your pH to 7.0 - 7.2

Post test results ASAP. Post if the ALREADY have algae (feel the sides: if they are slimey, you have algae AND iron!)
Let us know how hard it is to fill and redrain. If your well can handle it, that may be the fastest way to fix up your pool. But do NOT do this, till you are ready with a plan, a good kit, and the RIGHT chemicals!

Sorry . . .

Update I put a gallon of bleach in yesterday afternoon and another last night. This morning the pool is a aqua/teal blue and cloudy but a lot better. I think we got rid of the algae though. Here are the levels from the pool store.
Chlorine = 10 PPM
PH = 8.0
alkalinity = 210
hardness = 380
Stabilizer = assuming 0 he just put - ( dash )in this spot
Iron = trace
Copper = assuming a 0 - (dash ) there to
Phosphates =100
TDS = 700

They told me to just add 1/2 gallon of muiratic acid tonight and keep running the pump. Also just FYI I have a 140lbs sand filter on this pool right now just trying to get it running good. Thanks for anymore info with this topic.

Another question is there any special reason I can't look at my profile and it says I'm not autherized to look at certain pages?

Add acid, but not that much at once. Add an estimated (not measured!) 1/8 to 1/4 gallon (pint to a quart); wait and then retest.

Will the high Ph level cause it to be cloudy or is that somthing else ?

High pH + high TA + high CH can cause cloudiness -- that may be happening in your case. But, you need to lower it for several reasons, including the possibility of iron in the water.
