I am redoing my pool and was thinking about putting in the eco smart system. Can anyone give me advice -does it work, is it safe, etc?

"Does it work?" Depends on what you mean by "work".
Ecosmarte is simply yet another 'copper ions by electrolysis' system that puts pool-staining, green-hair making, algae-killing; bacteria-SLOWLY-damaging, virus-NOT-killing copper in your pool water: the end result is IDENTICAL to using copper sulfate, except that the EcoSmarte doesn't add sulfates. It's NOT natural -- there are no copper ionizer or copper sulfate systems in the woods, unless somebody put them there.; it's NOT 'mineral' -- in the rocks and minerals sense of 'mineral'; it's NOT a sanitizer.
We've covered this topic -- copper in pools -- till we're blue-green ;) in the face.
In my personal opinion, their marketing is deceptive and misleading, but you should make your own judgement.
