I have a 13000 gal pool and have brown stains on the skimmer. what is wrong?

Skimmers typically don't stay white. They get discolored by all the stuff that filters through them. I don't think there is a whole lot you can do about it. It's inside the skimmer so not a big deal. If you want, you can try using a little baking soda to scrub it but it is probably going to come back if it goes away at all.

Skimmers tend to pick up iron stains. If it's INSIDE the skimmer, I wouldn't worry about it (unless you are an obsessive neat-freak, and can't stop ;) )
Either way, if you want to test that, get some vitamin C tabs, wet them, and hold them against the stained area for a few minutes. If it's iron, you'll see some lightened areas. If so, we can tell you how to remove the iron.
