I am in the beginning stages of planning for an above ground oval pool which will be placed on a hill. The only question I have now is installing a 15'x30' above ground pool a do it yourself job? I plan on having someone do the excavation for me. Thanks for any input and I am sure I will have more questions.

If it's something like this:
Intex 54979EG 24-Foot by 12-Foot by 52-Inch Rectangular Ultra Frame Pool (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B004DCANNK/poolbooks)
then yes, you probably can do it yourself.
For a more complex pool, with metal sheeting walls, and support braces . . . well it depends. There are videos on YouTube of people doing it, and some AG pool companies have installation videos. Your best bet would be to watch those, and then evaluate whether you have the skills required. Some people do; most don't.
