I spent an hour and half this morning popping liner back into track in deep end of my pool...about 3 feet was out. Now tonight I went and checked pool and the entire end of my oval pool is out of the track and pulled down several inches. This seemed to happen after I topped up water level at dinner time. I have no idea what to do now....pool companies in area are closed till Monday for sure...tried to hold liner up with duct tape and hurricane tape but they have been useless....any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated...I am at my wits end . We were hoping to get through the summer before replacing liner. Any ideas of any stronger tapes or something to use to hold the liner at least up on the pool sides to get through 8 more weeks?!?!?!?!?

I put a popsicle stick on each end into track to hopefully stop it from popping out more for tonight...I am worried to wake up in the morning and find the entire perimeter unhooked!!!!

Heather,
Here is a thread that might help. http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthread.php?7224-A-B-Cs-of-liner-tucks

I'm also going to ask our resident liner expert --- Waste aka Ted -- to have a look at your thread to see if he can help.

Hey, Heather - it's nice to 'see' you again, sorry it isn't under better circumstances.

As long as you're able to get the bead back into the track, use Popsicle sticks/ or whatever else you can fill the track with to keep it there. I'm not sure that the liner is the problem - I fear that maybe the track has eroded in the deep end, please check and get back to us. If you could post some pics of the receiver before you tuck the liner back in, it might enable us to suggest a more permanent solution.

I am pretty sure that that is what has happened to the track...last year
when the pool co came to fix the liner pull in deep end, they used lots of liner lock to hold it in....it has been a problem area for several years now. I have accepted that the end is near for this liner anyway(approx 20 yrs old) no more has popped out and the pool is still usuable. ...albeit scary looking in the deep end!

All I need is another 8 wks to get through the season and then we will get it replaced next spring.

My question now is can that tracking be replaced in an older pool? or will the same thing happen when I get a new liner?...is there some sort of retrofit tracking they can add on or something?

thanks for the replies...it had been a long hot day yesterday and I was beside myself!!!

Heather, it indeed sounds like the receiver has rotted out :(

There is 'side mount' receiver that would save you the trouble of ripping up the deck to replace the bad section. It's $10+ per foot and has to be ordered in 10' lengths...

I'm thinking that you might be able to Crazy Glue (tm) the liner in a couple places, as long as you're gonna replace the liner next season and get some new receiver.

I'd like to know how and why the existing receiver failed so as to try to determine if the rest will eventually fail. As long as you're getting a new liner, it's best to make sure that the track will last as long as the liner.

I am thinking we will use good old duct tape to hold liner up to the wall ...will look crappy, but a temporary measure till replacement. Thanks for the tip about the side mount receiver...glad to see there is such a thing. Thanks again for all the help!!

...so I MacGuyver'd the liner in the deepend and all is well to get through the season. We ended up gluing vinyl patch sheets to liner then attaching them to deck with good old duct tape...it aint pretty but it is serving the purpose!!! I got my estimate for new liner and new tracking and we will be ready to roll come spring!! Thanks for all your suggestions...love this forum!!

I'm impressed, Heather! If my liner ever comes loose I know I'm going to freak out. In reading through this thread you stayed calm, did what had to be done, improvised, tried different things . . . but you stayed calm. Guess whom I'm going to shout out to if my liner pops out? :)

LOL...even my hubby was impressed. Now I am looking forward to many trouble free years once we get the new liner next year :)
