So my slab where my pool equipment is has been wet lately. I just rebuilt the pump so I knew it couldn't be leaking. I searched for the leak and found it on the bottom of the canister. It is not gushing (yet) but it is enough to drain the pool a few inches in a few days. My question is should I replace this unit asap? and should I replace it with the same one? Is this filter sufficient? My pool is about 11,000 gallons

What make / model pump do you have? Please describe your pool and plumbing ( above ground, in ground, plaster, vinyl, number of skimmers, drains, returns, pipe size ).

I have an in-ground pool, it is sparkly spray texture type of finish, I have one skimmer, two drains, 3 jets, the pipes look to be 2 or 2 1/2 inch, the pump is a Marathon 1hp pump

Just an update, the crack started gushing yesterday so I removed the canister. I will need to replace or fix asap. Also my pipes are 2".

Looks like the part is available: http://www.pentairpool.com/pool-owner/partslists/filters-cartridge-system-2-modular-media-filters-plm-series-152.htm (http://www.pentairpool.com/pool-owner/partslists/filters-cartridge-system-2-modular-media-filters-plm-series-152.htm). It also looks like you can use larger filters if you want to.

Yeah they wanted $305 for the bottom part that's cracked. I got a whole new PLM 100 with filter for $340 locally. Already installed, and it's working great!

And now you've got spares for the top parts! - If you have 'em you'll never need 'em.
