Gasket question

I have a buddy who is having problems with an in ground pool. He installed a new spider or spoke gasket in the multi-valve body but he says he still has flow on the waste pipe with the valve position in filter. He said the gasket is a 5 spoke type but he installed but noticed there seemed to only be 4 mating faces in the valve body. Its a really old valve body so is it possible there is a 4 spoked gasket used in older valve bodies?

He also said the discharge pressure was weak.
