As a newbie to this forum, I have been reading about the BBB method and all the pool store chemicals, we do not need to use, we have always used algecide regularly in the past, but I havent' seen much mentioned about it in my readings here so far. Is it recommended to regularly add algecide to the pool? I have purchased some of the hTh algecide that is supposed to work for 90 days, but haven't added it yet.

No, we don't recommend routinely using algae for most pools and on those pools where we do recommend it, we only suggest Polyquat 60%. Most other algaecides cause more trouble than they are worth. (Like foamy water which is a real pain to deal with.) Take it back and get your money and put it towards buying a good test kit. We recommend the Taylor K-2006 or 2006C which you can get through the test kit page in my signature below.
Welcome to the Pool Forum, by the way!

Thanks! I have ordered the K-2006 and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. We are well into the 3rd week of Baquacil conversion, although the first 10-11 days we were using pool store instructions and only shocking once per day and now we know that slowed down the process significantly. Ordered the kit on Friday so hopefully by tomorrow it will be here so we can see exactly what is going on. With strips and HTH 6 way kit we have been bumbling through. FC is now holding overnight but CC is still very high (and of course both drop quickly in the daytime sunlight)
