I recently purchased a pool and had it installed, however the installer brought out the wrong skimmer and promised to be back to install the new one. Well, low and behold it's been 2 weeks and I haven't heard from him and he wont return my calls. Fortunatly, I do have everything he sold me and the install is complete with the exception of the skimmer and hooking it up to the pump. I have put water in the pool up to about a foot below the skimmer opening.

I've looked at the manual online and watched a few "you tube" videos and it looks rather easy to install. Wanting opinions on how hard installing the skimmer is or if you suggest hiring another "professional" to come out and install it and cut the liner? Any thoughts?

Trying to cut costs as I'm having an electrical run a line out to the pool and he's charging me a fortune :(

Can't answer your question as I've never installed my own, but on my first pool, my husband installed ours with no prior experience so it must be pretty straightforward. Hopefully Waste, aka Ted, one of our installer members who is extremely helpful will see your post and will offer his opinion on this matter.

Welcome to the Pool Forum, by the way

Welcome to The Forum!

I assume that this is an above ground pool.

The install is fairly easy and if you've seen a youtube clip on it, that's probably enough. Just make sure that you hav e the gaskets properly in place. It will help to have the fittings already in the skimmer, before you mount it.

Teflon tape or pipe dope are required on the threaded fittings - if you need help, simply ask.

Please let us know how this progresses and don't hesitate to ask questions - it's easier to be sure you've done it correctly the first time than to have to go back and fix a leak.

Installed it yesterday. had a little drip on the outside but used some marine caulk and it's perfect. This forum is great!
