I purchased an above ground pool that has the return located in the side of the pool next to, and about an inch below, the skimmer opening. Now that I have a heater installed, it seems like a bad location for the return as all the warm water stays on top. Is it feasible to move the return farther down the side of the pool (drill a new hole) and return the warm water closer to the bottom?

I don't know about that. I just wonder why every AG Pool ever made (I'm guessing) has the return up high, albeit lower than the skimmer. There must be a reason nobody makes 'em down low. I suppose if you were to spring a leak in your new, low return, it would mean the end to all your water. Dying to see more opinions on this one.

Hi, The lower down the wall you get the more water pressure there is on it. Down towards the bottom there is a great amount of outward pressure and just a small amount of rust caused by a leaky fitting could make the wall split open.

I would keep all openings on the top half of the wall, no lower.
